Welcome!
I have been teaching voice for 26 years and have loved every minute of it. My studio is a supportive space where you will discover your true voice, develop your vocal technique and build the confidence to feel comfortable performing anywhere. I will help you find the correct repertoire for your voice type, whether the genre is classical, musical theater, jazz or pop. I also have experience working with singer/songwriters and will help you find your "sound" and provide feedback on your songwriting.

If you are preparing for an audition or competition, I will work with you as often as you need in order to help you learn your music and create an expressive, musical presentation. We will also work on appropriate audition etiquette. After working with me you will feel completely prepared, confident and ready to present a dynamic audition.

My students are currently singing in professional choirs and opera companies in the US and Europe, studying at highly acclaimed colleges and conservatories, receiving roles with professional theater companies and signing major record contracts. I believe in my students and am able to guide them on their journey into the world of music.

Feedback from students
"I've taken voice lessons with Melissa Hanson for just over four years. She prepared me for my auditions and acceptance at both the Interlochen Arts Academy and Berklee College of Music. I owe much of my musical success to her. Melissa creates a perfect environment for vocal lessons, combining a kind and supportive atmosphere with helpful and constructive feedback. This allows students to push their limits and feel confident to try new things even when they may fail. The growth I have experienced in these lessons is amazing, and she is by far the best vocal coach I have ever had. 10/10 would recommend!"

"Melissa has helped me in more aspects than just vocal coaching. She played a huge role in helping with my college audition process, through illness and injury to my vocal cords, and has overall improved my confidence as a performer. She continues to help me grow my individual voice."

"Lessons with Ms. Hanson have always been something I look forward to at the beginning of every week! Working with her has been so helpful and eye-opening for me; she not only has helped to improve my vocal abilities exponentially, but has become one of my most cherished mentors. I love the time I spend working with her and highly recommend her lessons for everyone, no matter how advanced! She's truly an amazing teacher.

"I have had the pleasure of working with Melissa since 2018. She has taught me in a fun and effective way that makes me excited to practice and come to voice lessons. I have always felt comfortable to make necessary mistakes with her in order to learn. I feel confident in my vocal performance as well as vocal health because of her. She has taught me to sing everything from musical theater to opera to pop. I could not imagine having a better experience with any other teacher."
